The Alchemist: Shahan Murad
The book which I have read few days back is really a masterpiece by Paulo Ceulho, which is “The Alchemist”. It is all about an ordinary boy traveling from his homeland Spain towards the Egyptian deserts in an attempt to find the buried treasure in the Pyramids. He is the leading character who meets with several other characters throughout the novel, and his adventure proves that the shepherd had potential to be a rich man from a poor being. He follows his dreams living in his society in this adventure story and meets a Gypsy man who calls himself a king. “Is he really a king,” asked by the shepherd. The treasures are not to be achieved so easily, but there are going to be a lot of difficulties in a shepherd’s life for meeting his goals. Santiago is an ordinary man who is standing on his wishes and wants to be a rich man with little enjoyment in this so-called life. On the way, the meeting describes the rhythm and creates several questions in Santiago’s mind, whether I am capable of these all? Are these all in my destiny? or they are just a part. He finds himself engaged in these questions and moves on.
Furthermore, Santiago sells all his sheep and leaves towards Africa for finding his dreams, but unfortunately, he would be robbed on the way. He remembers the old man words, who advised him to go for your dreams at all cost. So what he did was only to carry on. He thought of that local crystal where he wanted to get a job, and again bring his sheep since he was robbed terribly on the way, and left alone. His intentions made him stronger and more committed towards his ambition, which was to be a rich person by getting those treasures.
Furthermore, first he tries to give up these all after being robbed on the way, then the old man’s words inspired him and made him realize that he could do what he wanted. As a result, he became a very rich person in his community, which remained a dream for common men in their lives. He proved that everything is possible in all of the ways, but only commitment and enthusiasm are required. He marries at the end and the book ends with the only message that ambitions and attention can make someone mentally and spiritually strong to face the challenges of life. So was true of Santiago who married his dream girl after getting fame in his community. He admired his ambitions which led him towards success. That’s why I suggest all readers to read this piece that teaches the best lessons of life.
